Design Lounge is a Wellington Web Design, Website Development, and Online Solutions Company. We specialise in innovative design and head turning websites for our clients. Since 2001 we have created a wide range of websites for clients all over New Zealand and the globe.

We operate our business very differently to many web design and development companies out there. Firstly, unlike some other companies, we don’t have free seminars and pushy sales people, trying to hard sell a range of standard website packages. Instead our clients contact us with their requirements, and we put together an individual solution tailored to their needs. Secondly, we don’t have any long term service contracts. This means that apart from the initial design and setup costs, you only pay for the other services you need on a month by month term, which you can cancel at any time.

Design Lounge was also an early pioneer in the NZ Web Hosting and Domain Registration market, providing clients an easy and affordable one-stop website design and hosting solution. In 2004 our hosting network was divided off into a separate division, called the Lounge Network. The Lounge Network now has professionally managed servers in Wellington, Auckland, and in the USA.

Responsive Web Design, often abbreviated to ‘RWD’, is when a website layout is designed to automatically format to the screen size it is being viewed on. Essentially this type of web design allows your website to be ‘Mobile Friendly’, without the need of having a separate mobile website or special mobile web design template.

With a Responsive Website, the websites format and layout are automatically adjusted by the websites code, to give the best viewing experience for the individual device it is being viewed on. This means it is ‘Responsive’ to the environment it is being viewed with. With websites now being viewed on so many different screen sizes and devices, having a responsive website is a must.

The traditional approach to designing websites for mobile devices, was to have a separate mobile website designed specially for those mobile devices. But with responsive websites, this is no longer required, and the same website can be used for all devices.

The Willow Shoes website is an online shoe shop, catering for woman with long narrow feet. It has been operating since 2001, and as undergone many updates over the years as technology has improved. It has full E-commerce functionality allowing full inventory management across multiple stores, and secure credit card payments via a secure server.

The website is regularly updated, when new seasons shoe ranges are introduced. The current images above show both the summer and winter graphics and styling.
